With stunning views of the Pennines,
Lake District and hills of the Yorkshire Dales, Appleby Golf Club
is set in a
remote and idyllic setting. The greens are superbly maintained,
playing well throughout the year, and with the land being free-draining,
the course is generally always playable. The course is not overly
long at just under 6000 yards (par 68), but with no par 5s and
par 4s of almost 400 yards or more, it is not an easy par to achieve,
particularly when the wind is blowing. It is a tough but fair test,
and tremendously good value for visitors.
Practice facilities include two putting greens and a 300 yard
practice fairway all situated close to the first tee.
