The Open Champion, Willie Fernie used the contours of the land and the heather and bracken features to create our course to great effect. Sitting on a bedrock of Sandstone, Appleby is free draining so is playable all year round, which is a rare thing in Cumbria! The greens are renowned for offering the best throughout the year.
